Our Journey

2017

Founded as Dropee with a simple idea: make B2B procurement accessible to Malaysian SMEs through a digital marketplace.

2020

Accepted into Y Combinator W20, one of only a handful of Malaysian companies to join the world's most recognised startup accelerator.

2021

Forbes Asia named Dropee to its Asia 100 To Watch list. The enterprise buyer base began to grow as larger organisations sought a structured, digital alternative to fragmented procurement.

2022

Closed a USD 7M Series A round led by Vynn Capital. Expanded the platform to serve enterprise procurement requirements - approval workflows, ERP integration, compliance controls.

2023

Rebranded from Dropee to Borong, reflecting the scale of the infrastructure being built. Borong means wholesale in Malay - the name captures both what the platform does and the market it was built for.

2025

Ranked No. 2 Fastest-Growing Company in Asia-Pacific by the Financial Times.

2026

Ranked No. 1 Fastest-Growing Company in Asia-Pacific by the Financial Times. View the FT ranking

Y Combinator W20

Borong (then Dropee) was accepted into Y Combinator's Winter 2020 cohort, one of only a small number of Malaysian companies to participate in the programme.

Forbes Asia 100 To Watch

Recognised by Forbes Asia in 2021 for progress in building digital procurement infrastructure for the Malaysian market.

What We Build

Borong operates three interconnected layers of procurement infrastructure: Borong Procure for enterprise eProcurement workflows and compliance, Borong Marketplace for access to 37.9K vetted suppliers across core business categories, and Borong Credit for embedded trade financing backed by RM1.1B in credit facilities. Running across all three layers is MIDAS, our AI-powered price benchmarking and spend intelligence engine that ensures prices are within market benchmarks from the point of purchase.

Built on Neutral Infrastructure

Borong is a platform facilitator. We connect buyers with suppliers and do not compete with sellers by buying or reselling products ourselves. This means your spend data, supplier relationships, and contract terms are never used to inform our own commercial decisions or shared with other parties on the platform.

This independence matters most in price benchmarking. Because Borong does not resell, MIDAS price intelligence reflects genuine market conditions - not a margin calculation. An evaluator looking at Borong alongside reseller-led procurement platforms should ask one question: whose interest does the price data serve?
